Collegiate Coaches Join FSIH For December Clinics

WILMINGTON, Del. — First State Ice Hockey will present two guest clinics in December, with both geared toward youth hockey players — male and female alike — who aspire to play collegiate hockey after graduation from high school.

On Sunday, Dec. 20, University of Delaware ACHA men’s Division 1 head coach Todd Mittelmeier and assistant coach Jasen Bange will lead two one-hour sessions — at 6:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. — at the Skating Club of Wilmington. Both sessions will be open to U16 and U18 players, and the 6:15 session is open to U14 players as well.

“We are very happy to have Coach Mittelmeier join First State Ice Hockey for these skills clinics,” said Sean Cannon, FSIH’s director of hockey operations. “This is another example of how we will continue to bring more opportunities to the local players that have not existed.”

One week later, on Dec. 27, First State will present its first clinic geared specifically to female hockey players, also at Wilmington. Ken Deming and Rena Leone, who coach the ACHA women’s Division 2 teams at Delaware and Liberty, respectively, will lead a pair of one-hour skates for female players: the 6:15 p.m. session for U10, U12 and U14 players; the 7:30 p.m. session for U16 and U19 players.

Each session is capped at 14 skaters and two goalies. The cost is $50.
