FSIH To Field Inferno Spring-Summer Tournament Teams

NEWARK, Del. — First State Ice Hockey announced Wednesday (Feb. 3) that they will field tournament teams under their Inferno banner through the spring and summer of 2021.

The Inferno will field teams in the U10 through U18 divisions at tournaments throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Each division will target four tournaments — one each in May, June, July and August. Plans are in the works for a summer mite program as well, including opportunities to play at summer mite jamborees.

“The continual starting and stopping of the 2020-21 season has not helped players develop consistently,” said Sean Cannon, First State hockey director. “Our spring and summer program is built for player growth and development; we have a direct plan ready for our participants to make up for some of what was lost during the winter.”

Cannon will coach the U18 team, while First State’s top-shelf skills and development coaches will lead the other divisions.

In addition to the four-tournament summer schedule, Inferno players will have access to special development events and skills clinics through the offseason at the Skating Club of Wilmington and the University of Delaware Ice Arenas.
