MAS Round 1: Inferno 18U 4, Black Knights 2

OAKS, Pa. — The First State Inferno 18U team came out flying in their first game of the Mid-Atlantic Spring Showcase, outpacing the Mid-Atlantic Black Knights, of Whitehall, Pa., in a 4-2 victory Friday (June 4) at Oaks Center Ice.

Goals from Jordan Fabian and Matt Bellopede gave the Inferno a 2-0 halftime lead, and further tallies from Nate Crossan and Julian Diehl doubled the Inferno’s advantage 8:14 into the second half. Despite allowing a pair of Knights goals — from Haden Henry and Francis Gallagher — in the following three minutes, First State fortified their defence through the final 12 minutes to preserve their 4-2 advantage.

The Inferno defence limited the Knights t0 10 shots, eight of which Jonathan Catterton saved. Joey Agnello stopped 15 of 19 shots faced in defeat for Mid-Atlantic.

On Saturday, the Inferno will face the VSK Wings Blue at 3:05 p.m. and Capitals Elite at 9:10 p.m. Both games are at Hatfield Ice in Colmar, Pa.
