MAS Round 1: VSK Wings 7, Inferno 12U 5

OAKS, Pa. — Despite battling back from an early deficit to tie the game at 5-5 midway in the third period, the First State Inferno 12U team fell to the VSK Wings, 7-5, in their first game of the Mid-Atlantic Spring Showcase on Friday (June 4) at Oaks Center Ice.

A pair of goals from Trace Wozniak helped the Wings soar to an early 3-0 lead, but goals from Braden Berry and Hayden Long pulled First State back to within one 4:42 into the second. The teams traded two further goals apiece in the second before Christopher McShane scored the game-tying goal for the Inferno 6:32 into the third.

The deadlock lasted all of 65 seconds, as Conner Williamson responded with the game-winning goal for the Wings followed up by an insurance tally from Patrick Kearny.

In addition to Berry, Long and McShane, Chase Mullarkey and Danny Hartnett scored for the Inferno while Cian Mahoney added two assists. Bryce Kline saved 20 of 27 shots faced in defeat.

The 12U squad returns to action Saturday (June 5) at the Bucks County Ice Sports Center, where they will face Bristol at 7:45 a.m.
